Curriculum
A balanced education for Grades 1–6
Our primary school curriculum is designed to engage students in a well-rounded education that emphasises academic achievement, creativity and personal growth. Teaching is delivered entirely in English, with Finnish language education provided alongside in line with national requirements.

Reading, writing, listening and speaking skills developed across all year groups through English-medium instruction.

What to expect at each grade level
Each year builds on the last. Here is a snapshot of the learning focus across Grades 1–6.

- Literacy foundations, numeracy, and learning routines in a nurturing classroom environment.
- Grade 2
- Building confidence in reading and writing; introduction to structured mathematics.
- Grade 3
- Expanding vocabulary and comprehension; multiplication and division; first project work.
- Grade 4
- Deeper subject exploration; longer written work; collaborative group projects.
- Grade 5
- Critical thinking and research skills; increased independence as a learner.
- Grade 6
- Transition preparation; subject specialisation begins; student-led presentations.

Applying to the primary programme
Applications to Norden International School are open all year round, provided places are available and students meet the entry requirements. We welcome students of all backgrounds.

Submit the online form. You will receive a confirmation and an assessment date.

Level assessment
All prospective students complete a placement assessment arranged upon request.

Pay the registration fee
A one-time registration fee of €750 is required to secure the place.

Sign the school contract
Finalise enrolment by signing the school agreement.
